Hey Friend, Let’s Talk.

Did you know that today is Bell’s Let’s Talk?

This has been going strong for 9 years. Drawing awareness to mental health and breaking down the stigmas around this. Their site has a ton of resources and tools so I would check it out!

Smile, breathe, and go slowly.

— Thich Nhat Hanh

Something that I stand for is mental health + wellness and the support that comes with it. I say this as someone who has gone through some big rough storms of life. And I see you, And I want you to know that you are so amazing! No matter what you are going through, storms or clear sunny weather you are so amazing.

Feel free to download and share these affirmation cards friends!

If you are new here then you might not know but in the last 5 years, in particular, have put me through some really crushing times. After I got married, my husband and I experienced three recurrent miscarriages, unexplained infertility, my father was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and had aggressive treatments, I had a high-risk pregnancy that required daily injections of a blood thinner to support my pregnancy when I did deliver my son he was 4 pounds and 10 ounces at 38 weeks and 6 days so we had a stay in the NICU, I would experience life after infertility and experienced postpartum anxiety and depression that was at its peak days before my Dad was in the hospital with a collapsed lung! That summer I was in fertility coaching school, a mama with a 6-month-old and driving back and forth visiting my dad. That Fall of 2018 we lost a very dear friend to suicide and an Uncle passed away. On December 22nd, my dad passed away peacefully after his battle with cancer. 2019 was a blur I feel I have had to block things out. Two funerals within two weeks and packing my dad’s house and apartment.

Then my mama moved to a different side of BC. and then we packed up our home and moved away from all our family, friends and communities that we have known for 30 years!

BLAH that was a mouthful to say in one breath! Smile, breathe, go slowly…..

I get that in the storm finding the words to speak out loud feels like we are admitting to our struggle. I know there is a lump in your throat when you are trying to collect the words. I have been very open with my struggles that have gone on in my life, I feel that being open and vulnerable with someone doesn’t cure your anxiety, it doesn’t change the past, but what it does do is it strengthens your resilience and it lifts some of the weight on you. It can feel liberating to open up. You might find that you are not alone, you can learn some tools that can help, and deepen and strengthen, compassion and connection.

We are all going to walk challenging times my friend,

I wish this wasn't the case but this is the lived human experience! The good news is that there are so many things that we cannot control but there are things we can do to HELP! And there are people out there who can help!

You have so much value in this world!

Talking to someone can look like talking to a partner, a friend, a mentor, or a neutral professional in a counseling appointment or a helpline.

You are valued and you can call a helpline if you are needing support and feel you don't have someone else to speak to.
